Terror
A small local group of teens in South Dakota is disturbed by an abnormal occurrence. Not knowing what exactly is going on, they scramble to find out. Horrific things begin to happen all around them… and they’re in the middle of it. Seeing locations and entities they have never been or seen before, they have to fight, solve riddles and escape monstrosities. They are caught in what seems like an endless fight for their lives. Will they make it out of this neverending nightmare?
The Story of Terror:
In November of 2021, I transferred to an online school. There, I joined the drama club and met a few new friends. Together, we began brainstorming plot ideas and came up with what is now Terror. We began scriptwriting and casting. We rehearsed (and in the meantime, recast and recast again) and found an animator...or so we thought. For months, while rehearsals were ongoing, this person send me several screenshots of models they "made"..."finished". I praised their work, because I had no reason to believe it wasn't just that...their work. Fast forward to October of 2022. Rehearsals were complete and we were ready to record the final takes of the script. Every single cast member recorded each of their lines and send audio files to me. I, all by myself, learned a new editing software and edited the recordings together, cut by cut, line by line, effect by effect. By mid October, the animator had EVERY SINGLE WORD they needed from me in order to begin bringing the characters the life (making them talk, lipsycning, etc). Then came empty promise after empty promise after empty promise. First, they promised a Halloween release date. How cool would that have been? Of course, now I see that there was no way this animator was going to complete animation for the film in 2 or 3 weeks, but at the time, I had no idea and I had blind trust and faith in this person that they would do right by me, the rest of the cast and the film. Following that were several other broken release date promises. Starting in March (2023), they stopped replying, stopped sending models and never sent a SINGLE finished clip (animation, lipsyncing, audio). Then, in May, they stopped responding altogether. I sent multiple emails and messages, but nothing. They silently left us high and dry with nothing...back to where we started, basically. I am working on getting this animated, but it has been released as a six-episode podcast on Spotify and YouTube in order to have it out there, gathering exposure and fans and interest.
